MEET A FAV LOCAL REALTOR AND THE WOMAN WHO SOLD PAINTER’S FOLLY

Chadds Ford JunXion (CFX): First, please tell us a bit about your family.

ELIN: I was born in Norway and have lived all over the place, including Oslo, New York, Chicago, the Turks and Caicos Islands and now right here in Chester County. I am married to a FedEx pilot and have two boys, ages 14 and 16. We live on a small farmette in a 300-year-old house with a pond, barn, and pool. We have dogs, cats, and chickens. Life can be crazy, and it is so important to feel grounded when you walk in the door or step onto your land. That is where our tagline, “Love Where You Live,” stemmed from.

CFX: How did you get into real estate?

ELIN: For most of my professional life, I managed luxury hotels around the world. When we decided to move to southern Chester County, I took the opportunity to reinvent myself. I had always wanted to be in business for myself, so I combined my sales and customer service background with my desire to help people live in the perfect place for them.

CFX: What makes Beiler-Campbell a great firm for you?

ELIN: From the moment I met the owners of Beiler-Campbell, I knew that it was a perfect fit. Real estate is a local business and BC is the leading local broker established over 40 years ago. I love knowing that our owners live locally and are involved in the community and that I can call Brian Campbell or Anthony Beiler at any time.

CFX: Why would you say you’re a top producer?

ELIN: My corporate background taught me the importance of hard work, honesty, and loyalty. It also taught me to be self-motivated. Real estate is a profession and a career for me, something I take very seriously. But most importantly, I genuinely love what I do. When I first started in this business 14 years ago, our founder, Ben Beiler, said something to the effect of “to be successful in this crazy business, you
need to wake up every morning and say, ‘Today, I am going to sell a house.’” That stuck, and that’s what I do.

CFX: Is there anything special about your approach to real estate?

ELIN: I am a good listener, problem-solver, and communicator. I am also very honest and say it like it is (that is the Norwegian in me.).
Buying and selling a house is more than a business transaction; it is a journey, and I am there every step of the way with my clients,
and it doesn’t end at the settlement table.

CFX: What makes this area of the country unique?

ELIN: It’s not for nothing that my tagline is “Love Where You Live.” I have lived all over the world, and southern Chester County is my favorite place. The rolling hills, farmland, charm of Kennett Square and Chadds Ford, proximity to Philly, NYC, DC, all make this the ideal place to live. The people are so friendly and welcoming, and I genuinely look forward to touring out of state buyers around this area.

CFX: How do you stay on top of the market trends?

ELIN: I am one of those nerdy people who actually enjoys continuing education. I also attend the National Association of Realtors conventions whenever possible, most recently in San Diego and Boston. And I am obsessed with what we call the “hot sheet” on the multiple listing service. I check it several times a day to see what is happening in the market. I like to think I know every house on the market in this area.

CFX: What do you do for fun?

ELIN: Being a Norwegian, I love to be outside. I run in White Clay Creek Park and hike and play tennis. My happy place is sitting on my patio overlooking my pond, barn, and farm with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine (depending on the time of day.)
